This is the unique original Gouache painting by Graham Coton.

Jim Maxwell and Dave Harrah, two American climbers were the first men to reach the summit of Yerupaja in the Peruvian Andes in 1950. The mountain was considered to be the toughest mountain under 25,000 feet to climb; it's nickname was El Carnicero or The Butcher.

Harrah fell through an ice shelf on the way back down the mountain and was hanging by a rope 120 feet long tied to Maxwell. The next stop was a glacier 4,000 feet below! Harrah despite severe injuries managed to climb back up to the ledge.
