During the seventeenth century Parliament tried to stop all nonconformists holding meetings and even tried to force them to join the Church of England.
All over the country they were persecuted but they continued to flourish until soldiers were sent to break up their meetings.
This is the original introductory panel for a single-page strip entitled 'The Pilgrim Fathers' recounting the story of their voyage to America and foundation of the first permanent colony, Plymouth Massachussetts in 1620. It was published in the 24th November 1962 issue of Look and Learn.
