Carol Day is a fashion model, elegant and assured in a world of intrigue, vividly brought to life in this much-acclaimed newspaper strip with multi-layered adult storylines and superbly detailed and atmospheric artwork. Created by artist David Wright, it was published in the Daily Mail between 10th September 1956 and 25th May 1967.
A wonderful comic strip, with its combination of sophisticated themes and stories, multi-dimensional characters and always magnificent art, the series transcends even the best American strips of the time, and yet, strangely, despite being sold internationally, was never syndicated in the United States.
According to Patrick Wright, David's son, even though the Hearst Newspaper did attempt to head-hunt my father in the early 1950s, it was felt Carol Day was too sophisticated for the American market!
Carol Day: Jack Slingsby reprints the complete story from the original David Wright art, in the LARGE FORMAT full size of the originals, a substantial 17 x 5.25 inches. The story comprises the 115 strips which ran from 23 June 1964 - 2 November 1964 (Tuesdays!). Also included is an introduction and in-depth study by Chris Killackey.
We want to give readers the opportunity to savour the original art and to enjoy one of David Wright's best stories.
