This is the Signed original Gouache painting by Angus McBride.

Forged coins were undermining the value of the official currency. The Bishop of Salisbury sent his men to scour the country for forgers. Many were caught red-handed and brought to justice.

Roger Bishop of Salisbury was the first man to hold the title of Chief Judge, this was during the reign of Henry I (1068 - 1135). The forgers were punished by having their right hand cut off.
