This is a Limited edition print. This extremely rare screenprint was produced in the Caza studio, which was responsible for some of the most beautifully and carefully printed screenprints produced in the 1960s - 1990s.
This print is not only a supreme example of Moebius skill and composition, but also an historic example of the ground-breaking work by one of screen-printing's pioneers and leading names. The image is a perfect hybrid of French Fantasy Sci-Fi mixed with the Japanese influence of creators such as Miyazaki.
In 1963, Caza founded Stellascreen Michel Caza, LTD in the suburbs of Paris. It was here that he began his study into what was thought to be impossible at the time, taking screen-printing from flat-field lines and halftones to achieving fine works of art with midtones and subtle graduations of tones. This was eventually to be become known as the 'stochastic technique' of printing.
Caza's ingenuity and master skill is visible in this screenprint, which boasts gorgeous fades and undulating tones.
This screenprint, known as 'La Nacelle', was produced as a numbered edition of only 150 copies. This however, is even rarer, as it is a studio proof, produced from the beginning of the run of prints in order to check the print effects. It is unnumbered and has been stamped 'Specimen' on the reverse.
The print has been created on a sheet of watermarked BFK Rives cartridge paper with a decaled edge to the top.
